“Koch must hold accountable for Esteghlal’s failure.”
PLDC - Abdollahi, Esteghlal’s
team manager, told reporters that Esteghlal’s Head Coach, Roland Koch, must
be hold accountable for Esteghlal’s failure in Asian Club Champion’s League.
Abdollahi said: “since Koch was in charge of the team, he should also be
able to explain why we were eliminated after two losses from the
competition.”
In regards to Roland Koch’s possible rejection from the club, Abdollahi
said: ”We have not yet made a decision on that matter, and after Koch’s
return to Iran from Germany on March 26th, we will discuss his future with
the club.”
He also talked about Mr. Mohases’s presence in Esteghlal as a technical
advisor and said: “Mr. Mohases is only a technical advisor to Koch, but all
the final decisions are made by Koch, as for example, Mr. Mohases believed
in using Akbarpour in the last 2 games as a starter, but Koch made the final
decision in regards to those situations.”
Abdollahi continued: “When we buy such an expensive coach, we can not give a
team already arranged, as if the team fails, his prestige and reputations
will go under question.”
Abdollahi in regards to Esteghlal’s unsuccessful campaign in ACC said: “I do
not blame the players for the loss, as our players did their best and simply
I must say that the opponents were stronger than our team, and when they
purchase players that their salary matches with the budget of Esteghlal’s
entire year, what can one expect from this team.”
At the end he concluded: “Participation in Asian Club championship is
getting harder for our clubs year after year since Asian clubs now purchase
world class players that are just better-quality than Iranian players.”
