Liverpool are in contact with Torino about Gleison Bremer

The Reds and Everton have reportedly ‘knocked on the door’ of Torino F.C for a 23-year-old Brazilian defender Gleison Bremer with the January transfer window now in full action – and Liverpool fans have reacted on Twitter to the reported news.

As reported by Mediareferee.com The Reds were initially linked with a move for the defender back in November while Merseyside rivals Everton were also understood to be monitoring him.

Jurgen Klopp seems keen on signing the Brazilian. With Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip all out injured, the need for reinforcements is clear. Not signing a central defender would represent a big risk in the Premier League title race for Liverpool.

These latest reports claim that Klopp is pushing for the signing of Bremer. The Brazilian has been impressive for Torino since joining from Atletico Mineiro in 2018.

Even if nothing is certain regarding this potential transfer, the Torino defender is exactly the profile the Reds want to add to their squad, considering how threadbare they are in defence.

The Brazilian has achieved an 86.4 percent pass completion rate in Serie A this season and won an average of 1.9 aerial duels per game. He is also averaging 1.1 tackles and 2.4 interceptions, highlighting his defensive nous.

According to Transfermarkt his current market value is an all-time high 6m EUR. He is attached to CAA Base Ltd, the same agency which manages the likes of Tottenham Hotspur duo Heung-min Son and Dele Alli, former Spurs defender Kyle Walker and Real Madrid superstar Raphael Varane to name but a few.

18 months into his time at Torino, Bremer revealed the struggles he endured after moving to a new country at the age of 21, telling the Brazilian publication Esporte Interativo: "When I arrived here, a year and a half ago, you know how Brazilian you are: You want to arrive playing. But I did not understand the tactics of Italian [football] very well, which is totally different from Brazil. It is very tactical, it works a lot of space, it's faster football."

A move from Turin to Liverpool would very likely require less time for adaptation when compared with the move from Belo Horizonte to Turin. Even so, most pundits seem to agree that currently, the level of the Premiership is superior to the level of Serie A. The Serie A seems to be played at a slower pace than Bundesliga or the Premier League. Because of this, it is a reasonable assumption that Bremer could require some time to adaphas he have signed bt Liverpool during the January window.

As the defender now is on the radar of some very large clubs, there is a decent chance he could be part of the Brazil squad for Qatar2022 along with Roberto Firmino. Who can potentially be his Brazilian teammate at Liverpool’s current squad?

According to Tim Vickery, Roberto Firmino was under-estimated back home and wasn’t used well. There is a very good chance Jurgen Klopp won’t do the same mistake with Bremen and getting him on board can be a game-changer for both player and Liverpool.
